Spencer Ogden is currently partnered with a prominent player in the renewable energy sector who specializes in the greenfield development, acquisition, and operation of solar, and storage projects throughout the US. They are looking to add a Development Manager to their Texas based team.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to our mission of expanding and managing a portfolio of renewable energy generation assets.
  • Demonstrate expertise in the site selection and permitting processes for utility-scale solar and/or wind generation projects.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, both internal and external (engineering, finance, legal, environmental, etc.), to successfully develop prospective projects.
  • Structure overall projects and oversee development from financial initiation to construction commencement.
  • Stay informed about the business landscape, including regulatory and environmental legislation.
  • Effectively lead and mentor teams and subordinates.
  • Participate in special projects as required.
  • Onsite presence in Houston will be mandatory.
  • Travel to project sites may be necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, environmental science, land use planning, business, or a related field.
  • Demonstrate a track record in developing large-scale infrastructure projects within the energy sector, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in renewable project development, preferably in the solar and/or wind industry, and 4+ years in real estate development, environmental consulting, or engineering management within infrastructure projects.
  • Showcase strong analytical skills and a keen business acumen.
  • Exhibit a self-driven work ethic and the ability to lead, particularly in a development role overseeing multiple projects or transactions concurrently.
  • Display excellent communication and negotiation skills, enabling relationship building with both internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • Proficiency in various computer applications (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, Google Earth, Adobe, etc.).
  • Adaptability to thrive in an entrepreneurial organization.
  • Intermediate-level experience in real estate, public speaking, permitting, market assessment, contractual negotiations, and commercial agreements is advantageous.
