The Role

Responsibilities  

  • Responsible for carrying out initial grid capacity analysis for new potential sites
  • Lead project offshore grid network connection planning development and related regulatory body interaction activities for various new markets in cooperation with Grid, Engineering, and Development team members
  • Procurement of front-end electrical engineering
  • Technical engagement with external consultants, contractors, independent engineers, as required.
  • Inspect new project sites and to attend seminars and meetings as required.
  • Ensuring engineering activities are carried out to the highest quality standards, and in accordance with the relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Evaluation of new products, concepts and technologies from vendors.

Experience:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • A minimum of 5 years of grid connection experience
  • Offshore renewables or offshore energy projects desirable
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and in particular, Health and Safety issues offshore

The successful candidate will work closely with the clients Investment Team to provide grid-related advice and services on existing and new investment opportunities throughout the development cycle and across multiple technologies, including onshore and offshore wind, solar and energy storage. In the clients current development pipeline of onshore wind projects, there is a significant value-add opportunity to provide strategic advice and to help maximise success for the connection of projects. Supporting the Grid team in identifying and securing grid capacity both on the distribution level and national transmission level from 11kV up to 400kV network for its large-scale solar, wind and BESS projects. You will regularly communicate and liaise with the relevant DNOs and NGESO to gather all necessary intelligence to successfully source and secure grid capacity for prospective projects.The ideal candidate must have experience in power systems analysis, excellent communication skills and experience of liaising with external stakeholders such as network operators and specialist grid consultants.Furthermore, you will be actively manging relevant grid aspects of the business, building and maintaining relationships with the DNOs & NG throughout the entire development and construction process. Maintain the data necessary for ADMS, DERMS, and other power system platforms. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to rectify errors between systems and provide feedback on recurring issues for new project analysis and scoping. Develop an understanding of customer needs and expectations and propose solutions for moderately complex issues. Participate in identifying and solving problems within the assigned area of responsibility with guidance from a supervisor. Apply governmental and organizational engineering standards, interpret policies, and exercise discretion and judgment in resolving moderately complex problems. Demonstrate critical thinking and communication skills necessary for developing recommendations that offer technically sound and cost-effective solutions to specific problems. Education Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree in an engineering program accredited through the Engineering Accreditation Commission is required. A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree is preferred. Required Experience: 2+ years of related engineering experience.
